If you watch fashion videos on TikTok (as much as my friend does), you’ll probably already know she’s referring to a sleek silky black maxi dress with a bustier top, spaghetti straps and a lace thigh-high slit from Mango’s Selection edit that TikTokers have coined the Revenge dress.

So what exactly is a revenge dress? It refers to the stunning off-the-shoulder black evening gown Princess Diana wore to the Vanity Fair party in 1994. The dress has been interpreted as having been worn by Diana “in revenge” to her husband, the former Prince Charles admitting to adultery in a televised interview.
